I am a 71 year old bird photographer, new to the digital format, but only have Picasa3 as a simple editing tool - the free download with limited functions. Thought I would stop by here to see if anyone could remove the branch on this sparrow's tail for me with a more advanced software tool.

Though I'm just starting to learn a little on my own with Photoshop Elements-7, I tried the eraser mode to rid of it, but can't - it ends up grossly smeared with tail line harmonics.

Thank you for your considerations.

Regards,

Jonathan

It's a crude job but only took a couple of seconds as Mozes says with a higher resolution image it is possible to do a great job but not really worth it at 640px wide, post a link and I'll download and record a screen grab for you to see how I would do it :)

The branch is easily removable in Photoshop, but Mozes is right in that a higher resolution file would be better. Also, where do you want the edited file? If you want people to post it here, in the thread, you will need to turn on IMAGE EDITING OK. You can do so in your User CP (top left of the screen, in POTN's menu bar).

And that's a really pretty shot of the Sparrow, Jonathan. Well done.

Jonathan, are you looking for "touchups" of this one photo, or are you looking for the skills to do touchups of your photos that you take over time?

Adam and llareggub, Wow!That's amazing. Thank you for the fix with your digital miracle and magic. I am speechless with those results.

Levina, Thank you for the compliment and info. I'm just going to use the edited file for my own use. I will activate IMAGE EDITING.

Tony, Just for this one image for now.

Kindest regards,

Jonathan

Thank you, Ed. What did you use for the branch edit and added background colour shift for the warm dawn/dusk effect?

... it ends up grossly smeared with tail line harmonics...

Sometimes it's better to select the area that you're working on & work within that area to avoid that smearing.

For the branch i used photoshop's clone tool. For the warming effect i use Nik's Color Effex 3.0 Brilliance/Warmth filter...
