I am a volunteer for a local non-profit that helps kids both academically and socially after school. On Saturday they have a "Zombie 5K" that they are doing in an attempt to raise funds.

I contacted one of the ladies who is organizing the event and asked if they were interested in having someone do photos of the runners. I explained that it could be done for donations by the participants and they could get the file from me. I would not be looking to make any money, just trying to help get more money for the clubs.

They explained that they actually want to do a photo booth and would love to have me run that. I accepted and I am now planning for the photo booth.

My question is, what should I wear to something like this? Should I just go in jeans/tshirt or should I be in something dressy? This will be an opportunity for me to be handing out business cards as well and start getting some exposure for my business.

TL;DR = Photo booth for Zombie 5K to help non profit get donations (I volunteer for them 2x a week). Do I wear something dressy or just jeans/tshirt?

Thanks A LOT in advance!!!!

if it were me, since it is an informal event, I would do nice jeans/polo shirt. You want to present a nice, clean image to potential clients, but also be comfortable enough to run the photobooth

Just my 2 cents

Good luck!

I would just dress neat/comfortable. I mean your going to a zombie 5K, I think dressing up too much will be lost here on these people.

Yep, I think you want to fit in with everyone else, so dress appropriately.

Just a thought: You started out to shoot the "Zombie 5K", which would interest me a lot & probably the runners & parents, & wound up operating a cookie-cutter photo booth? Does this still make sense to you?

Yeah.... I would prefer to just shoot some action shots... but they want/need a person for the photo booth and do not have anyone else. I am going to do whatever it is they need to help them out.

Plus, being at a location it will be super easy to give them a business card and tell them where to go. Otherwise I would have to rely on the organization to be able to reach out to all the participants and give them my link. While this may not be my ideal shooting, it will help get my name out there.

First off, are you male or female?

Comfy/neat. I would love to wear a fancy suit/vest and a fedora to all events but it's not practical for when I lay down for that shot =)

Well I just went with jeans and a shirt like what was suggested. I'm glad I didnt wear anything nicer haha.

This may have seemed like a dumb question to some, but for me, this was my first time doing something like this and was not sure. I really appreciate all of the help!

Did it go well? Any good pics?

Do you feel like you may have gained some clients?
