Thank you both and yes, this was taken at Bodie. This image is also another bracketed set that I merged through Photoshop hdr Pro as a 32 bit file then tonemapped using ACR. I just recently upgraded to PS CC and while I could do the same thing using CS6, CC simplifies the process somewhat. So far, halos where the sky meets the background are a non issue using this technique.

Here's one more taken about the same time but facing towards the sun. These are both 7 exposures...not necessarily because they needed to be but because that's how my 1DsMkII was set up at the time.

Neat one too. It has a painterly feel. You didn't go crazy with the tone-mapping and that restraint yields a pleasant rendition of tones and hues.
