Got to fly up to Kaktovik for the day in late September. An amazing place. Ended up seeing around 30 bears. 22 was the most we saw at one time. The bear viewing is boat based so we got got extra lucky with the great weather. It had snowed about 4" before we got there.

the bears are sitting around waiting for the ice so they can get out and hunt some seals.

Very nice series! I like the last image particularly, mom teaching them the ice flow lean.

Hey Drew,

Nice photos of Polar Bears. I gotta' hop on a plane and do that! BTW, I enjoyed my all too-short visit with you and the bears at Mc Neil (if I failed to say thank you before).

Stunning series, was it a nice change of pace from the brown bears your are used to seeing?

Well what can I say? How much fun that would be! Well shot, Drew! Love them all, but love #1. Something I'll likely never see.
