Took today off of work in hope to do a 5k zombie run, ended up going to my 9yr old nephews last football game of the season. Was a cold and cloudy day. They won 48-50, GO SPARTANS! Took over 100 shots, here are some. He's number 68, CC to help me in future games please! And be blunt too, I won't get butt hurt..I promise!

Not bad for a first time out with the equipment you have.

A couple look a bit underexposed. Try to expose for the faces even if it means loosing a few highlights.

My other nit would be that there are too many backs in these. I know you were shooting #68 and he looks to be a lineman. That makes it tough to get any real compelling shots. Remember the sport shooter mantra... Face, Ball, Action. Shoot tight and crop tighter.

#6 and #8 are the best of #68 here. Maybe try and crop them a bit tighter to isolate him more.

Thanks for the tip! I've gone back and am currently re-cropping them as I do agree that there are a lot of 'distractions' and some do look under-exposed while others look well exposed.

EDIT
Forgot to mention that I used my Canon 55-250mm f/4.0 - 5.6 II lens on a Rebel XS body.

Here are a few other re-edits with cropping in consideration. How is the exposure looking this time?

I think that, for your first time shooting sports, you have done remarkably well.

I agree.

Welcome to sports. Keep shooting and sharing. You've got a lot of fun times ahead with your nephew and his friends.
