Will an intervalometer allow longer shutter speeds in cameras like the G15 that typically only allow a max of 15 secs (and don't have a bulb setting)?

An intervalometer is basically a mechanical finger. Which also limits what it can do if the camera doesn't have the relevant support.

I think you might be right.

But, I did find another way around this problem. CHDK! You can override the 15 sec max with that. :)

Got the Intervalometer and confirmed that it doesn't seem to override the 15 sec max exposure. Looks like you need a bulb setting for this. Unfortunately, the G15 doesn't have one.

So, CHDK is definitely needed for the workaround here. This does allow for the longer exposures and works with the Intervalometer.

You are correct, CHDK will allow longer exposures, and also has a intervalometer script you can use instead of your external one.
