Will an intervalometer allow longer shutter speeds in cameras like the G15 that typically only allow a max of 15 secs (and don't have a bulb setting)?

Which also limits what it can do if the camera doesn't have the relevant support. 5DMk2 + BG-E6 | 40D + BG-E2N | 350D + BG-E3 + RC-1 | Elan 7E | Minolta Dimage 7U | (Gear thread)

Looks like you need a bulb setting for this. Unfortunately, the G15 doesn't have one. So, CHDK is definitely needed for the workaround here. This does allow for the longer exposures and works with the Intervalometer. You are correct, CHDK will allow longer exposures, and also has a intervalometer script you can use instead of your external one.
