Hensel Porty

Hi - I am a relatively new photographer and was wondering if I could get some advice. I am looking to do some glamour photography (mostly on-site) and have been borrowing a friend's Hensel Porty. I figure it's about time to get something myself, but am not sure if the Porty is the way to go for me. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If you like it, go for it..... we can't tell you what you should or shouldn't buy.

BTW, you opened up a big can of worms, you're about to get so many different and varying opinions (from keep it light weight, so speedlites is the way to go, to buy Elinchrom or ProFoto (or even Hensel) because you can grow into it) you'll probably leave this Thread more confused with information than what you came here with..... lol

Yeah, everyone seems to have an opinion. I like the set that I have been borrowing. I was looking on eBay and see there is one there that is ending tomorrow (Saturday). Maybe I can get something for "cheap"...

You don't need a 1200ws pack unless you're shooting outdoor sports at high noon. 600ws should be plenty for glamour. Profoto AcuteB2 is the best balance of power and weight. Whatever pack you choose to get, you'll want to get a pair of PocketWizard Control TL transceivers for HyperSync. I can get clean 1/500 sync and only a small sliver of curtain at 1/640. You'll also need a beauty dish - get the Kacey Enterprises 22". It's a Mola Demi clone at half the price, reduced weight, and better durability. Hope this helps!
