I just got Lightroom 5 last week, and I'm still getting used to it as well as reading Scott’s Kelby’s The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers.
I've always used Photoshop, but I noticed when I zoom in on and image in Lightroom, it looks very grainy and pixellated.I haven't read the book all the way thru yet, but is there something in setup that I missed maybe ?

Can't really answer your question because I don't pixel peep, but I can say I approve of your choice of reading material...

I think we will need to know a bit more than that.
What camera?
What ISO?
Raw or jpg?
How far in are you zooming?
In what LR module?
What sharpening have you set?
What NR have you set?
Have you updated to 5.2?
What did you eat for lunch yesterday?
Will Boston win the Series?

I was sort of wondering without knowing too much about Lightroom, about that question. Let me delve into it a little deeper.
I thought learning about Photoshop was bad enough, now I have a new bunch of things to learn. Its a bit overwhelming to say the least, but I do want to learn it ! Bruce

Bsmooth, Photoshop has a waaaay steeper learning curve than Lightroom, you'll do fine!
