Oct 30, 2013 21:14 | #4 Canon has a lot of other non-consumer camera business that Nikon does not. The article is a bit ironic in the comment about software when, by using the 70D and a wireless connection, I can direct upload to several services and control it using a smartphone. Copidosoma Goldmember More info | Part of the problem with these "xyz is going to be dead in five years" topics (SLRs, crop sensors, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office) is that these wonderful alternatives that do 90% of what the "dinosaur" technology does don't do that other 10%. There will always be a market for that last 10%. Not everyone looks at their images strictly on a computer. Years ago people wanting snapshots to share bought Instamatics. Serious photographers bought a Nikon F, a Canon F-1, a Minolta 101, a Pentax Spotmatic F or similar. Mirror less cameras sales dropped too so I don't see the inevitability of MILC cameras. Personally I have no use for an LCD panel like a P & S and prefer optical viewfinders. I think many MILC's are sold due to the novelty factor. agreed. I think the article is just trendy and nothing more. Oct 30, 2013 23:28 | #13 I see crop DSLRs everywhere here. They are affordable and yield much better IQ than a micro sensor phone. People realize that while the phone is near for a quick snapshot of your kid doing something silly, to capture the moments that really matter a phone is a poor substitute for a dedicated camera. Keyan wrote in post #16412524 The mirrors could go away at some point, however I would challenge any mirrorless to take 1200 shots on a single charge like I can on my 70D easily. No soccer mum/dad that uses consumer DSLR cares about that.... 5D3 Gripped / 17-40L / Σ35 / 40 Pancake / Zeiss 50 MP / Σ85 / 100L Macro / 70-200 f2.8L II IS / 430 EX II / 580 EX II / Canon 2xIII TC / Kenko Ext.
