Interesting logic, along the lines of :- people don't care about IQ to throw their stuff around the Web.
Then in the next breath crop cameras will be dead in 5 years. Were I to follow his logic surely the expensive FF cameras would die off if you dont need the IQ.
Personally my old 7d had very nice IQ and cheap reach!

So glad I got my 5D3 before they became obsolete and unobtainable!

I want to see an SI shooter show up at the next SuperBowl sporting only his smartphone.

Quiz for you ... pick out the mirrorless camera in the shot below ... extra credit for finding the credentialed photographer using a smartphone.

The 7D mk I will still be the only 7D in the range in 5 years but every 6 month interval until then there will be a rumor and the forums will say you're stupid for not waiting for it. /end sarcasm.

I do do think full frame will get cheaper and more common. I also think we will probably see medium format digital reach 5D line price points in the next decade. MF backs are now in the range of what rhe original 1D series cost. When we get to the day you can buy a new FF camera for 500 I think the demand for crop will be less but not gone, apsc became a real popular film format before digital cameras were multiple megapixels for under $300.

But I still don't buy into the claim that film is dead.

I'll also mention there was a time the goal was the smallest cellphone possible, now much of the market tries to make the smartphone with the largest screen.

I found him! More importantly I found what looks like a 400 2.8 standing on the ground with no rear cap on it. That is why I don't shoot professional sports. I always put my rear cap back on upon removing a lens.

Oh, and even if crop cameras will be discontinued, how does that result in it being a bad idea to buy the 7DII?
