Finally got around to editing some of these ones to put up. Game is from a while ago but none the less its hockey. Wasn't supposed to shoot this season but hey, when they call, you answer right?

Enjoy

Nice shooting, last three are the best for me.

Don't get much for NHL on here anymore. Had a poster that used to shoot the RedWings a few seasons ago but haven't seen anything of his in some time.

Yea I remember seeing those my first season but haven't seen much of him since, shame, I love seeing hockey pictures. Thanks for the compliment.

How is the lighting in your barn? I tried to look at the EXIF, but it's all blocked. I'd be interested to see what your settings are and what gear you used for each.

Sorry about that. Lighting is great. For hockey my settings are usually:

1/1000 to 1/1250
F/3.2 - F/4.0 (sweet spot on my sigma)
ISO at 2500

I usually am shooting with my 60D and my Sigma 70-200 non-OS. Great combo for hockey that works for me.

Awesome series.

Ever have an issue with white balance in an arena? I normally shoot RAW (from the cheap seats I must admit) and adjust in Lightroom, but I'm curious as to an actual pro's opinion.

Having a hole is a wonder, it makes it so much better (even though there is some risk involved with it) but I love it. And yes shooting an NHL team allows you a lot better light but still not the best in the league.

Thank you for the compliment!

Thank you. I don't really have too many issues with correcting the WB. It is usually pretty close, just a tad on the cool side sometimes and I have to warm it up a little. Overall not bad at all though.

okay, its long and convoluted but...

one of the players on the local Junior (Tier II, NAHL) team is the son of the local Mayor Pro-Tem. She (the Mayor P-T) is a classmate of mine from junior high and high school. weve been friends through out the years. the barn we use is city owned and i half-heartedly suggested she have management cut some photo-ports in the glass. i believe she would actually do so if i pursued it...

the problem like you say "there is some risk". the risk HERE, is that the rink is used by bantam/peewee/atom type hockey and there really isnt any "policing" of the kids who are there waiting to play or after playing AND there is seating around the entire rink at glass level so there'd be NO WAY to keep kids from sticking their fingers through that hole and getting them smashed...

just saying!
