Is it just me, or does the 6D feel like a full frame Rebel?

It's just you and one or two other people.

yes and no.

In some area it's worse than a Rebel.

Rebel these days has more crosstype points than the 6D ;)

6D has something better than a swivel screen: a detachable screen using wifi.
So what if it feels like a full frame Rebel? Canon sells more Rebels than anything else, and no doubt all that fat profit helps fund R&D for other pro-level cameras.

I've never used a Rebel, so I can't compare them. My 6d has been gripped since day one. Love it. Top notch image quality without having to sell a kidney. What's not to love. My shooting style is simple though. No sports or birding. Just lowlight shooting mostly. I'm starting to get into using speedlites so we will see how it goes.

Just got my hands on the camera itself 15 minutes ago. Sold my T4i for it. I think it feels good in the hand overall, I will be adding a grip. The shutter button feels a touch softer than my rebel body, so we'll see if that turns into anything. I'm just waiting for the battery to charge now...

For the 1300 shipped to NY with a 1 yr refurbished warranty I got it for. I am stoked. I don't have the need for the 5D iii or the want to spend another 1000$.

If I had the money, sure, I'd have spent it. Not sure why this is such a heated debate. The camera fits nicely between rebel and pro. Just as it was intended.

pointless expense.

If they can put a swivel screen to $600 rebel, why should it add cost to $2-3k 6D or 5D MIII?

My post was about things on the modern DSLR that I won't use. GPS, WIFI, in-camera processing, flippy screen, scene modes and perhaps a few others. I'd gladly pay less for a camera that didn't have any of that.

They can put an all-cross system with dual-cross center AF point on the 60D. Why not give the 6D at least that much? Marketing departments, not photographers, drive feature availability.

Dedicated APS-c shooter. Gripped 60D, 60 2.8, 10-22, 15-85, Σ70-200 OS and a big white something or other! Plus a 5D w/28-75.

Agree that it feels like a 60D, which was my previous camera, minus the swivel etc.

And... I don't really care. I like that it's lightweight. The buttons do feel a bit nicer.
Great cam for what it is...

I wouldnt consider the 6d a Ferrari. More like a Lotus. 5dmark iii = ferrari, 1dx = Lambo

1DX = Porsche 918 or Ferrari LaFerrari.

5DIII = Lambo (pick your variant)

7D = Lotus, etc.

6D = Camaro or Mustang

Nah, Canon is not an exotic brand.

1DX = Corvette
5D3 = Camaro V8
7D = Taurus SHO (kinda old, and not exactly cool like FF, but fast)
6D = Dodge Sprinter Van (not exactly high performance, but it holds a lot of image quality
70D = Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

When the 6D was first released I spoke with a canon factory rep. I was debating whether to go with the 5D2 or the 6D. After bemoaning the fact they left off the PC sync port, the slower sync speed, and the max shutter speed, I asked why they had left off things I thought were essential. He said, we had feedback from surveys and forums that users wanted a full frame rebel, so we made a camera for that market, and we are getting killed for it. He went on to say its more full featured than a rebel but was to be less than the pro line 5DIII.

I don't miss my 5DII at all. The 6D feels every bit as solid to me and I like the ergonomics, weight, size, etc. etc. a lot more.

No, I never claimed to be outstanding in the field of photography. I said I was out standing in the field taking photos.
