Intheswamp Endeavor to Persevere More info | These remind me of gladiators. They're rather common now here in south Alabama but only appeared here within the last 10 years or so. I'm not to sure but what they're displacing the common garden spiders. They're known around here as golden web weavers and banana spiders. The web they spin is a TOUGH web with a strong golden tint to it. Their webs has been known to capture small birds! The poorest of the poor.
