Wisconsin Barns

Hello All,

I finally have some new photos!! Last weekend I went to Wisconsin to visit my family. There was enough time left over for me to sneak out with my camera and tripod. Here are two barns I found while driving around.

This picture was taken Friday Afternoon in southern Fond du Lac County-near high 67. As you can see it was great weather for photography. Of course, in Wisconsin great weather in January doesn't last long.

I remember weather like that when I lived in Michigan. If you didn't like it, just wait a few minutes and it would change!

Beautiful shots! Very different feel to the two of them with all the color in the first one and an almost monochrome feel to the second one. I like them both! Beautiful shots!

There is something about old barns; you just can't pass one by without snapping a few shots. Nice photos. I especially like the 2nd one in the snow.

Thanks guys. I love to shoot barns. The weather on my trip couldn't have been more helpfull for photography. One snowy day and one clear day.

BTW, I think there is a bit of a bias on this forum for photos in landscape (horizontal) over photos in portrait (vertical). Everytime I post a vertically aligned photo, it is second favorite to a horizontally aligned photo. My theory is that viewers can better see a horizontal pic on a standard monitor vs a vertical photo. I can't even see the entire first image on my monitor without scrolling. The second (horizontal pic) fits nicely o my screen. In my opinion, the first photo is much stronger compositionally and creatively, yet everyone seems to like the second (horizontal) photo better. Maybe I should start posting smaller sized vertical photos so they will fit in the viewing area.

Who knows, maybe people just like to see snow on a barn.

Very nice shots, Dave. I'll confess that I've missed youe work while you've been away. I feel that some scenes simply beg for a vertical format, but I also notice people generally prefer landscape format. When I re-size my verticals, I alway keep them to 725 pixels high so they fit easily on a screen without scrolling. (Larger, of course, if I intend to print.)
