Canon 70D Lots of bashing over Dpreview forum

Gee, I have been to Dpreview to check the review of the Canon 70D and while scrolling all the way down, you got people telling all kinds of idioties bout Canon ice, sensor, and trashing the reviewer.

Its like some kind of war, I can't believe how a camera, you know something that takes picture,have fun with, enjoy as a hobby, can make people react the way they do.
And the flamers seems from the Nikon users, maybe they did not like the high score.

Anyway, its not cool, I don't have anything against Nikon, Olympus Fuji or Sony, but over there it looks like a war!

I guess they are shareholders

HA! They can bash away while I enjoy the 70D....and when I'm in the mood I enjoy my Sonys too.

true, but its not even funny, how another brand can do.
I remember that Sega lost against Sony, and its was that kind of flaming that went on and on.Funny enough I don't see Sony gamers having innovation going on their console.
Sega was great at innovation.

I hope also that Sony doesn't do that kind of business with camera, by making something great, but no real innovation when it comes to R&D.
There is a fun factor when shooting, that is what I like bout the Fuji Xseries, its so different from my Dslr!

People always get nervous when a new camera comes out - they're afraid that they're missing out on something, or they crave a rationalization that they made the right choice. If you don't know what features/performance someone else needs from a camera then you have no reason to trash their choice. Of course, this is the case most of the time.

To a lesser degree, we even see that here with lens selection. It becomes personal for some people.

1st world problems. It is really silly how people get emotionally invested in their equipment.

Yeah, I noticed that too this morning. Comments, especially negative ones, just exploded overnight.

I just couldn't believe my eyes, bashing, calling names, etc.

What really upsets me all the time is how certain people can only see in black and white, only in extremes. "This is absolutely useless, it's crap, camera X just wipes the floor with camera Y", and similar comments. And in the meantime I am bleeding from my eyes comparing actual studio shots between cameras and trying to figure out what the heck these people are talking about! They are taking extremely minor differences between cameras, blow them up and making absolutely insane conclusions. I don't even know how these certain people took pictures 4 or 5 years ago when they had to endure the "torture" of shooting with 40D for instance. Their bashing of the 70D makes someone who's not into photography believe that omg, how was it possible to take any photo in the past if this new 70D is so "crappy"
It's a shame, I hope the guys at DPreview have thick skins.

Seriously...it's a camera, it takes sharp pictures. Move on.

yes, I agree, and the worst is that high Iso, Canon is really good.
Great focus, great frames per secon, BUT it lacks DR and DXO rated it badly.
But I can't spot a differencew in pictures, none.
Maybe I need to change my glasses :P

I call this the Political "Behavioral Trickle Down" .. a little theory of mine that what happens at the top of the food chain reflects the behavior across the board.

Think about the word "Representative" for a moment..

I'm not sure if it's an American thing or a Western human being thing but we have a tendency to think in "all or nothing"/"black and white" terms. This can be unlearned but it does take some effort.

Come to think of it, it might only be certain segments of society that are prone to this type of thinking but I can tell you, I ended up seeing everything in black and white until I was in my early 40s. It took some effort to unlearn this habit and to take a more rational approach to life.

So true. It reminds me of a concept in psychology called the "the narcissism of small differences." Freud observed that people with minor differences between them are often more hostile towards each other than people with major differences. So, it seems some folks over-identify with a camera and then wildly exaggerate small performance differences between them.

Politicians are the "top of the food chain?" How utterly depressing a thought.
