FINALLY it is basketball season again! First game of the year shooting for me. The Badgers allowed Platteville to hang around with them in the first half; Coach Bo Ryan trying out different rotations of players. They settled in during the second half and finished in a dominate fashion, winning 80-51.

1. Wisconsin's own Kohl Center during warm-ups two hours before game time

2. Wisconsin Badger's #21 Josh Gasser goes up strong against the big man, showing no signs of his brace bothering him.

Thanks, The wide angle shot was with the 7D and a 17-55 2.8 IS. Everything else was 1D Mark IV + 70-200 2.8 IS II @ 1/1000, 2.8, ISO 3200.

Yep thinking its time to trade my 70-200 version I for the II. Great looking captures here as to focus and exposure. Assume you use 7D as a second sports body? How do you like it? I have the EFS 17-55 IS as well and it is a killer lens, but I only have 40D and 50D which I want to upgrade so I can use that lens better for BBall and dark indoor stuff.

7D is indeed my second sports body. I have a love-hate relationship with it. When it works, it makes some great images. I have even had good results shooting soccer at ISO 6400 (below). However, some days it frustrates me. The focus system is pretty fast, but sometimes inaccurate. A burst of 6 images some days has 5 in focus, some days it's only 2.

For the price, it is a great option and has served me well for a number of years now. Perhaps the 1D Mark III would be a better option. However, I need the 7D for video until I can afford a 5D Mark III or 7D Mark II to replace it.

And yes, the 17-55 2.8 is an incredible lens for the value. If I end up going the 5D Mark III route, it is going to be very painful to pay for the 24-70 2.8 II to replace the trust 17-55.
