How's the other aspects of the IQ on the Tammy in comparison? Color, contrast, bokeh. All that other fun stuff that's just as important.

Microcontrast is better on canon. bokeh, I am not really sure. I have not found either objectionable, but I have not specifically tested for it. apparently, canon is a lot more flare prone (lenstip test I think) My Flickr

Dec 29, 2013 22:02 | #35 Good thread guys. Helps educate me on the differences between the two lenses. I ordered the 25-70 ii because there are some great promos going on right now. But I really do want that is feature. I find it pretty invaluable on my 25-105. But I guess we'll see. The other hing is I'll be shooting a lot of my kid and she's going to be moving around pretty soon and I definitely need some quick AF to keep up with her. Body: Sony a7R IV

I still reach for it for video. However, sometimes I feel I am fulfilling Einsteins definition of insanity when I use the lens. My Flickr

However, sometimes I feel I am fulfilling Einsteins definition of insanity when I use the lens. so you never kept the 24-70 II? yea, that's the only thing that's going to irk me with the 24-70. lack of IS. although, most of the shots I've been doing, the bottleneck hasn't been the IS, it's been the motion blur, and IS is probably not going to help me with that. However, a standard zoom with IS for video would be invaluable. sigh. if canon came out with a 24-70 IS, it would be so much easier. even if it were 25% more than the current 24-70 II, I think it would still be worth it. with street prices of the 24-70 hovering at $1600, paying $2000 for the IS version would be very doable IMO. Right now there is sales/rebates and such. This will go away. you never know. the 24-70 II has been trending down, similar to how the original 24-70 was. Whats to say the 24-70IS won't do the same. but we'll see. I'm excited for the new lens to come in so I can put it through it's paces. will be nice to have a high quality std zoom again though. At every single place at our planet with all kinds of everything as light... the sun... just a candle... a lightsystem from a concert... anything... Some photos will be great with that Canon... some will look better with Tamron... And it is a matter of taste... some folks will ALWAYS buy Canon. If money is NO problem ? Don't think twice its allright : Buy Canon ! But if you like to save some get Tamron... and have 99,99 the same lens for less $.
It could be sharper... just a button in Photoshop or Lightroom... Looks like it's out of focus a little Body: Sony a7R IV
