Down in Brazil for a week of work. Finally on the last day in Rio got away for some photos. Then off to Foz do Iguacu for two days of photography. Flying there, I didn't realize you have to check any tripods since they wont allow you to carry them on. My bag was already in so I had to wrap it in clear plastic and hand it over. I didn't expect to see it again but it appeared on the conveyer belt in Foz :)

1. Several 50mm shots stitched

2. One 21mm shot

Then off to Foz. I learned the week before I went that if you stay at the Hotel das Cataratas, you get unlimited access to the Foz do Iguacu park before and after it closes to the public. So I had to do it. The hotel is spectacular, even for me, apparently the only single guy there. Its a married couple/older guy and his "secretary" kind of place.

Sweet shots. How was Rio? That's where my wife is from. That tr-border area is pretty sketchy, huh.

I thought you had a Rio connection. It was very nice. I wished for better weather of course. We were down in Barra which basically means a $30 cab ride to Sugarloaf. We got out most nights for dinner but I left all my gear back in the safe. Beef, Its What's For Dinner :) The Foz do Iguacu area is pretty mellow so far. The hotel is nicely letting me stay around for sunset tonight and then I go in town to check into a B&B and leave tomorrow.

Really nice people here. They warm up when you know a little Portuguese.

Those night shots of Rio are incredible. The Iguazu (as we called it in Argentina) shots aren't shabby either!

Wow these shots are awesome. I remember seeing those falls quite often in the Rio Xgames earlier this year. They had the skate vert ramp in front of the falls so as they were skating you could see the mist coming up behind them in the backdrop. Amazing looking place.

Ps: good to see another Seattleite ;)

Heya,

Love those night cityscapes. Care to share how you performed those? Amazing you could get so much distance without atmosphere and light pollution taking the view.

Very best,

For whatever its worth it was a clear night. I was using my zeiss 50 and 21mm for those shots. No filters or heavy processing. Mirror lock, timer release etc
