My buddy and his team played at SAP center last night aka the shark tank, i was lucky enough they let me shoot through the photographers hole in the glass since it's an amateur league.

Shot with a 6D and a 70-200 F/4 non IS
Settings were mainly F/4, 1/400-1/500 SS @ ISO 6400

A little on the underexposed side but the lighting was absolutely horrible as they don't turn on the big lights for the smaller leagues. All an all it was a blast and hopefully i get the chance to do it again someday.

Thanks for looking and any comments :D

you already addressed the exposure issue. i was going to say all but the 1st are about 1/3-1/2 stop under exposed. can you bump the ISO to 3200?

i think you did a good job! even if you didnt have the opportunity to use the ports, they probably have really good glass that wouldnt affect you too much...

little community owned rinks are TOUGH to shoot through (glass wise)...

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

Thanks for the comments :)

It was definitely an awesome experience and i learned a lot for the next time around.

As for the ISO i had to edit my OP, i was actually at 6400, being i was using the 6D i could have pushed it a little higher with no worries.....or spring the cash for the F/2.8 version

You had everything going for you: real lighting, port through the glass, free reign...and half the lights. That happened to me in Buffalo before. Only thing that would have helped you here would obviously been 2.8 or 1.8. I actually had really good luck with my 85 1.8 at gymnastics recently so am going to give it a try at hockey. Gymnastics is a little easier to predict where the athlete will be though! I find hockey and gymnastics equally challenging and look forward to trying to shoot it anytime I can.

That actually didn't even click until you mentioned it, i had the 85 1.8 in my bag next to me the whole time. I actually believe i spent most of my time shooting between 70 and 100 mm, that would have been a more go to choice in the situation....Thanks for that :)
