I am not a photographer, just an amateur "Point and Shoot" PowerShot user, I did not know of any better place than this to ask my question.

When I first got my PowerShot S5is. I got nice clear photos, always using the "Auto" setting. After not using that camera for a year I just took two large batches of photos. Almost all of them are disappointments because the backgounds are not bright and clear, even with white walls as background. I had purposely bought new batteries and charged them.

Is there omething that go wrong inside the camera when it gas not been used for a good while? Why would the "Auto" setting work beautifully when the camera was new, but not now?
