I did a video shoot of my co-worker Bobby's 32 Ford Pick-Up he built. The video was a blast to shoot. I wound up editing it to black and white and it all seem to fit together nice. I decided to pull some still shots from the video and edit them for Bobby to have as well. Below are some of the pics and a link to the video.

These look OK.
In the video, we're tempted to overuse things we think are cool, or are especially hard to do, & you've got way too much of the undercarriage/suspension shots. Generally, 6 seconds of anything are all most people want to see unless the subject is rapidly changing. On the bright side, I didn't turn the sound off after 10 seconds! ; )
And I recommend that you start using manual exposure. I can see the exposure changing near the end.

Thanks for the CC PhotosGuy. In which clip are you seeing the exposure change? I am wandering if it is something I did in post production? I thought I had my camera in manual exposure, but I could be wrong.
I was hoping to have had someone else with me when I shot this so we would have a chase car to pull shots from as well. I really wanted more footage of the truck moving and not just the undercarriage shots. Unfortunately I used the undercarriage shots to fill in for footage I didn't have.

Any pointers for editing stills pulled from video? All these stills came from the video.

Generally, editing starts with a shot list before you shoot. Then you can group similar shots together & avoid returning to locations to pick up something you missed. "Film" is cheap, so be sure to slate your shots so you can find them for editing.
And the shot list starts with some sort of script of what you're trying to accomplish, even if it's just on the back of an envelope.

Yes! That's unusual for me. Usually I turn sound off in these. Which (trivia) is known as MOS for "Mit out sound") ; )

I might have brought up more of the exhaust sounds over the music in some parts of the video, just to add interest to the long sequences.

Gottcha! I see what I did there.
Thanks for your help PG, I'm a total newb at video, but I enjoy doing it. It is so much fun.

Generally, editing starts with a shot list before you shoot.

This unfortunately was a complete spur of the moment event. I didn't even have an idea where to shoot at. I strapped the cameras to the truck, got in and off we went. Note taken, I will plan my shots from now on. I can see how even the edit would benefit from better planning.

I might have brought up more of the exhaust sounds over the music in some parts of the video, just to add interest to the long sequences

Is that good practice? Also, in my case, I had horrible sound from the clips. More wind noise than usable sound. I might have been able to save some of it in Audition but would it have been worth my time? I have my eye on a nice Mic for use when videoing.

How many sound channels do you have to work with? You might even have more in your editing pgm. Try it & see what you think.

"nice Mic"? Eventually you'll have a handful of mics. They're like lenses, one specialized for every occasion.

Or just put it in about 6 pairs of thick socks! ; )

Not sure what the limit is in Premier Pro, I've used up to 4 so far in some other projects. I also have Audition which allows several tracks to be edited as well, then exported directly into Premier, including 5.1. Not quiet ready or equipped for that yet.

Eventually you'll have a handful of mics.

My wife will love to hear that! :D

Thanks for those links as well. Video Maker has a wealth of info on it.
