Clearly this is likely to mean some kind of consolidation of products - for which the details are not yet clear. I sense, from the customer letter (which I received by email, as a registered user of Monaco OPTIX XR Pro), that they're aware that customers will be scared of being left with orphaned products, and are trying to act accordingly.
Much of the calibration and profiling software already works with several manufacturer's hardware - so I expect that, in the future, software will converge, having compatibility with whatever hardware you have. This is just a guess on my part, though.
