Depends what you are looking to get out of it. Better sharpness wide open? Definitely not. Sharper under f/2.8? Not so much. Better bokeh and buttery smooth out of focus bits HELL YEAH. To me this lens is all about the look wide open, the 3D effect it renders.

most of this persons flickr is photos taken with this lens and the sharpness does seem way better than my 50 F1.4, I also love the effect she achieves

At first I thought I was having back-focus issues with mine, but the more I shoot with it, the better the focus gets. Now I'm pretty sure all those "focus issues" were just user-error

3 flashes, 1 on each side at 1/64th power, gelled. 1 flash handheld with a 16 degree grid @ 1/32th power. 50L @ f/2.8, ISO 100, yadda, yadda...
