I am looking to improve my work and have decided to post a few of my recent shoots for critique. I have mentally prepared my self for what is to come...I hope. Please critique my work with comments on how I can improve. Thanks. The gentleman was rather stoic, but I manged to capture a couple of smiles. He was also wearing light sensitive glasses which proved to be a challenge.

I like #3 the best. Composition is the best w/o unneeded extra space. The others aren't bad and I'd like #4 next, just needs more contrast for me.

Thank you for the taking the time to comment! Now that you mention the contrast in 4, I agree. It looks a bit washed out. Fresh eyes are always helpful.

#3 Is my favourite :) nice smiles, clear and nice detail.
#1 a bit soft, but nice other wise
#2 also quite nice, just a shame they're not smiling. looks like her glasses are in the way of her eyes so it doesn't look like she's looking at the camera.
#4 is maybe a bit flat for my liking, did you use a flash?

Love that an elderly couple chose to do a shoot together! :)

I would prefer if he were looking at her or even closing his eyes in #1. As it is, it looks like he's being distracted from his kiss by something off camera. Otherwise it is a very sweet photo.

I agree with the others that #3 is the best.

Very nice portraits!

Thank you for your comments. I agree with your assessments. I am constantly trying to remind myself to slow down so I can catch details like the glasses, yet I still miss them.

I've re-edited #4 below as a couple of people have mentioned the flatness. Yes, a bit of flash was used.

Thanks for taking the time to comments. The eyes closed would have definitely helped make the shot.

I've re-done #4. Is this better? Too much? TIA

Nice set of images. They look like a happy couple.

#1 is nice but he looks like he's posing and not really into the kiss.

#2 is nice enough but has a bit too much head room. And they have much lovelier smiles in other images.

I have to go with the flow on #3 the best one. I would warm it up a bit and add some Clarity if you shot raw and use Adobe.

#4 is a lovely image but his hand coming up over her shoulder ruins it. It's generally a no-no to have someone's fingers creeping over a shoulder, around an arm, or even around a waist as disconnected hands just don't work. Love their expressions in that one though.

Thank you, Dave. These are the things that I need to hear to be able to improve. Yes, I shoot RAW and have LR.
