Hello,

I will be going to Isreal on 11/11 and need to buy an adaptor/converter to charge my camera battery and tablet. I have seen one at Best Buy for $40, but I'm not sure which prongs I need for use in Israel. The one at Best Buy said it was for use in the UK, Europe and I'm not sure where else. Would that work in Israel?

It also had a converter built in so I don't fry my batteries, which was 220V to 120V. Would that be a good and safe option to use? Or are there any better ones at Fry's? I'm not looking to spend much on it, but I also don't want to fry my batteries or tablet.

Would preferably like a unit that is an adaptor and converter built into one unit.

Thank you for your input!

Your camera's battery charger, and probably also your tablet's, work fine on anywhere from 100-240V 50 or 60 Hz, so essentially anywhere in the world. So you don't need a converter. Their ungrounded plug is the standard "C" type, used in most of Europe. Here's a handy site for more info on what outlets and voltages are used where: http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm (external link)

just as Jon suggested, check the voltage range on your chargers. most likely they will support the 220v as well

as for the wall socket, unless you are going to stay in a very old apartment which has ungrounded sockets, this http://electricaloutlet.org/type-h (external link) is the most common socket type

assuming your chargers support 220v, all you need is a simple http://electricaloutlet.org/type-a (external link) to http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm (external link) adapter

European style plugs work fine in the majority of Israeli socket outlets.

Our retirement Plan B involves a move to Indonesia. I was surprised to learn how flexible my Canon battery charger is. I thought I'd need a new battery charger so I contacted Canon tech service. Just as Jon stated, there will be no problem in Indonesia. I was a bit surprised it was the flexible.

I suspect my laptop is the same but I'll have to check the specs on the charger.

Thank you for all the responses! That makes things easier now since I won't need to spend extra on an adapter and converter.

And if you call BH customer service, I'll go out on a limb and say they'd know the answer. ;-)a
