Are you as interested as I am?

I am very interested in the Sony A7R since it is a very compact, yet high resolution camera. Somehow very appealing to me.

Is it possible to mount canon lenses on it, and if not, are there any adapters? I dont know sony so good so is this E mount or what?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Um asking opinion on a non Canon body in the Canon lens thread? Really?

Just goto dpreview and read everything about it....

My quick opinion - it uses ZE mount, can use Canon lens via the metabone adapter, but AF is damn slow. It speaks more to the MF crowd and landscape photographer. The system is alright, but not good enough for me to switch at least for now...

Yes, it can mount EF lenses, and yes, you will need an adapter.

You need a fully electronic adapter and they aren't too cheap. This is probably the one to get:

Keep in mind that once you've added the adapter, you increase the effective depth of the camera to roughly 6D size.

There's actually a very long thread about this in the rumors section (FF NEX). It looks like quite a few people are planning to buy one. I'm contemplating it myself but waiting until I can get my hands on one to see how it will work.

Who cares about the size. Lots of people moan that it's no smaller than a regular SLR after you add the adapter, but they seem to be missing the point. It's a 36mp exmor sensor that can take Canon glass; and there's no AA filter. If this thing works well tethered I'm going to be all over it.

Yeah, I am definitely tempted but not for the size as much as the output. You can probably mount your EF lenses on this Sony with a Canon EF to Sony "E" adapter. Actually, you'll need an adapter to mount Sony's wide range of available "A" mount to this "E" mount camera.
Also, there is no In Body Stabilization as it's found on the "A" mount cameras. So your lenses need to stabilized.

I am as tempted by the 7R as I was in buying a D800E --- not very.

The reports of the very loud shutter noise is a major turn off for me.

If the dedicated lens for the 7R turn out to be as awesome as they look on paper, that might be a different story. By the time those come out, Canon *might* announce something to compete with it.

Granted, the EOS-M was such a huge disappointment, I keep my expectations low.

Discreet shape, mirrorless, with a loud ass shutter. What the heck? Not that I personally mind its just kind of a turn off.
