Caught this young en yesterday and he was quite unfazed by my approaching. I think it is a young coopers hawk but may be a sharp shinned. He was chasing small birds and let me get to close to focus the 500 and he could have cared less about me. I left before he did. He had tags (so maybe he was pretty used to people) but haven't had a chance to really look at the whole body pics yet but wanted to get these ones printed this week so I worked them first. Please set me straight if you can tell me I am right or wrong.

Beautiful shots Morgan, I think you may be right on a Cooper's. Size is your guide. Cooper's are about the same size or a little larger than a crow. Sharp-shinned are a little larger than Kestrels.

Great close-ups! Love the eye & beak colors of Coopers.

Thanks everyone, he was chasing songbirds until a falcon came in and stole it. Wish I coulda caught that but was way to close with the 500 to get it in focus.
