Hi All,

So I am purchasing some vintage lenses for my A7 but I am curious if there is a preffered lens mount? So for example you can get a vintage Tokina lens in FD, AIS, Pentax etc. If you have multiple options for the same lens does it make a difference?

I would think you would either want to choose the one with the best resell or the shortest mount if there is no difference.

Most people go for either Canon FD mounts or Leica M mount.

It was a messy day here with sleet and rain. Finally it let up right at sunset so i got out to take this shot.

I wonder why this thread is not in the Sony discussion area...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

mods don't have the time to look for misplaced threads at the moment because of the updates.

but I just sent in a request to flag them to move. hopefully they will have a chance to get it done today :)

I agree. I sold my Canon 6D and picked up an a7R and the Zeiss 55 as a replacement until the a9 comes out. I love Canon, but the photography I do requires more IQ than it does low light capability. Sony is the future.

They should merge this thread with the A7r thread already in the sony forum.

yay it's been moved

thanks Mods! :)

I did suggest the merge back then since I see the same posts on both.

Originally this became more of a discussion thread and Shadowblade wanted a gallery thread, which also turned into a discussion thread in the works. Its hard that we cant help ourselves to to put in a few chit chats on certain things :P

I also think images for cameras and lenses can appear in both. Why? Not everyone will use the same combination so it would still be nice to see what a lens can do as well. We have seen this with the Canon forum for years. Same as Nikon on other sites.

Well, I know I had said that I planned on going with the a7S, but a deal came up that was too good to pass on an a7R in "like new" condition on Amazon ($1350), so I pulled the trigger on that instead! :-) Hopefully I'll love it, but if not I figure I can sell it for at the very least the same price and continue saving for the "S". Either way, I'll be posting some images in here soon! :-D

Can you guys recommend a cheap EOS adapter for the a7R? I don't have any EF lenses anymore, but all of my legacy glass is already adapted to EOS, so having one adapter to stack with would be great (I do this with my X-E1). I don't need one with any electronics, but all the cheap ones I've found for that say for NEX cameras, so I don't know if they'd work right with FX format or not...? Anyone know? I saw there are also surprisingly AF adapters for $100 on Amazon with decent reviews as well, might just cough up a bit more and go with that one... but I don't even know for sure that I want to keep the a7R yet so I'm looking to stay as cheap as I can for now.

commlite, metabones 4 copycat, but does not display proper exif.

viltrox, metabones 3 copycat, displays exif that is slightly off. Commlite will be better for tiltshift lenses, but by how much, I really cant say. IMO, skip the EOS adapters, and get cheapo fotga's for 11 bucks a pop. Not worth the price if you dont need AF and electronic aperture. I can honestly say that my EOS adapter hardly gets used.. Start looking at FDn glass from the canon museum.

I'll be surprised if you still keep your fuji stuff, manual glass is simply amazing with the sony setup. Far better than anything I've used.
