Hello, Folks!
Those of you fortunate to have the 5D Mk II or III and also adventurous(?) to add a NEX7 or Alpha7 + Metabones adapter to your collection: Can I request side by side pictures with objective comments to get an idea of image quality, noise factor in low light and colour renedition of Canon glass on NEX sensors, etc? (Especially corners/edges of the FF Alpha 7 when using EF lenses?)
Also, some feedback on AF speed and accuracy of f4/f5.6 EF tele lenses on the NEX7/Alpha7?
Possibly there are many like me waiting for some objective reviews and positve indications to make that jump to Canon glass on NEX cameras. What I am looking to find out is - will I get better image quality using a 300mm f4 or 400mm f4.6 on a 7D/70D or the NEX7+Metabones adapter. (No shutter on NEX may add to less shutter induced softness.) Also, I read the NEX 7 has a low light mode that Canon does not. How effective is that in real life situations?
Thanks so much in advance!

Can anyone offer some advice...

Without a shutter release options is the camera usable/can the shutter be triggered via a iPhone?

Is there anyway to set the camera to shoot continuously without any direct contact with the camera (I normally do this with a shutter release on a canon)

And finally - how does AEB work, And again, can 3 images be shot without any contact with the camera?

I wouldn't jump up and down with excitement. Sony sure looks great on paper, and might be the best available option for Canon owners who want to keep their glass

However, early tests indicate that Sony has some issues with overheating sensors, resulting in more noise at higer ISO compared to D800. Also their continuous FPS is extremely slow.

Truth must be told, I moved to Nikon less than a month ago, after comparing the files from D800 to both 5DII and 5DIII. I was invested about 10,000$ in Canon lenses alone, and before the move i was already using Nikon's amazing 14-24, so the transition was relatively smooth

Canon has much better glass, except for the UWA segment, once they take care of that, and their banding issues, i might consider going back. But after shooting with Canon for 8 years and moving over to the dark side like that, i doubt that will happen

I believe many of those interested in the a7R (like myself) are in it for low ISO landscape work. Slow FPS doesn't matter to me personally. Leveraging my existing lens arsenal is a big plus.

Can you point me to the reference that discussing the overheating sensors?

A small minority. I've used mine in the mid day sun down here in Australia where temps average the low 30's everyday (celcius) and haven't have a problem yet.

a7r would make a great second body, if all you're after is IQ, but i dont think it can serve as a main workhorse

Has anyone tried the metabones adapter with a Canon lens. It sucks. It hunts for focus Woefully SLOW.

The nice thing with the Sony is you could have just kept your $10,000 worth of Canon equipment and just augmented your kit with the A7R. That to me is what is so exciting. I too was looking at moving to the Nikon d800, but my investment in Canon equipment stopped me. Now I can just keep all my Canon gear...win, win.

I plan on using the A7R for landscape off of a tripod using manual focus. In fact most of my landscape lens ( Zeiss ) are manual focus only anyway.

If you are looking at the Sony cameras for action type of photography, you will have to look at using the native Sony lens which is very weak at this time.

I've been looking for a way to capture certain Florida landscapes in better detail. I think this will do. It certainly won't displace any equipment I already have.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Thanks for the reference. It will be my main workhorse for landscape work....which is slow, no video, etc. With the my 5D II I'm using live view, manual focus, etc.

That depends on what your main work consists of. If your primary work consists of shooting from a tripod doing landscapes or studio work there's no reason the A7R couldn't be a primary camera. ;)
