I am sold, but the camera stores and Sony store here in Las Vegas will not sell me the A7R until tomorrow, and they have stock; but I fly out early tomorrow before their stores open...will wait til I get back or buy in Manila or Hong Kong.

Cheers,

Focus peaking and the HIGH resolution EVF is amazing!

They look flawless - can I ask how easy is it to focus with focus peaking? How many shots miss focused?

Sony A7 + Canon 85mm f/1.8
With "Dumb" EOS-to-NEX adapter.

NOTE:
You can change the lens aperture by mounting on a canon camera and changing the aperture before mounting on the dumb adapter.

Thanks... actually Focus peaking is EXTREMELY accurate... but i set my Focus peaking to HIGH..... in color RED.... I don't use the LCD when using "focus-peaking" i use the EVF and and i got 99% opf the images within focus..... the 1% out of focus was trying to catch people who were moving... it's easier to focus on people who are standing still or just talking, but when they are walking, it's extremely hard..... lol

that's very cool and interesting.

With that in mind could you for example set focus ahead of a moving object/person and when they come into focus take a shot?

On a non focusing point....Other than the negativity Iv hear towards the noise of the shutter, im finding it hard not to justify a purchase.

Like with ANY other camera yeah you can pre-focus...

The shutter noise is not BAD at all, if you're shooting in the street no one will even hear it.... now if you were shooting in a library, that would be a whole different story.... lol

tell you the truth, i don;t even remember hearing the shutter for any of these shots...

? Battery Leak with a7R

? Battery LEAK

I still has the a7R body ONLY :o
Somewhat over the weekend my a7R loss about 20% its' juice.
Hope I'm only imaging.
The good news are I DO order two extra batteries from B&H already.

My gut feeling the stuffs from B&H in the State will be arrive EARLIER than Sony AUSTRALIA

Thanks, David!

Did you take any video yet?

From 5D3 manual, the SD/CF cards write speed should be 20 MB/s up for 1080p;
But nowhere in Sony manual mentions about the SD card requirement.

I can only imagining for 4k video with Sony, we should have SD with write speed 45 MB/s or up?

Try putting it in Airplane Mode to save power.

Does the new Sony camera have an Airplane mode like the iPhone and iPad? I was just thinking that maybe some of the camera functions such as Wi-Fi continue working (searching) when the camera is on stand-by (?).

Just notice my a7R bottom panel changing shape with the tripod plate attaching.

Sony α7R + Wimberley P5 Universal Quick Release Plate (external link) by X_Tan (external link), on Flickr

I'm guessing the issue isn't the screw hitting something in the camera (though it might also be happening).

If you look at the P5 plate closely, you'll see that although it's covered in a rubberised coating, the middle portion (where the screw goes through) is slightly recessed (lower) than the sides.

The idea of this is that it puts the most pressure on the bottom of the body at the ends of the plate (less chance of it twisting on the camera, as opposed to all the pressure being at the screw). The problem is that it means it can stress the tripod screw socket pretty badly on a body that's not tough enough to take it. I think this might be mentioned somewhere in the Wimberley instructions.

Given that the A7 isn't that big and heavy (and I assume you're not going to try a 300mm f2.8 on it!) you could try getting a different plate (that was uniformly flat).

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent
