I'm not the biggest sony fan either, pretty much hate them as a company, but they do offer something special with the A7/A7r. I have similar concerns about buying a camera from Sony. You bring up points that have lurked in my mind as well. From all I've seen, users of the A7's fixed lens predecessor, the RX1, seem pretty happy, so hopefully the A7 will prove similarly good. David | Flickr

If you start with good enough image quality... I have some pretty badly executed proofs of concept done with a Ixus 960 (a P&S) showing a f1.2-style bokeh. I am sure that people more proficient in masking and brushes can do a more credible job than I can...
