I could care less what Sony comes up with I would not buy it. To me,based on personal experience with their products, they make overpriced junk with poor support.

Do tell: What full-frame mirrorless camera is less expensive/not-overpriced. Leica M maybe? ;)

I refuse to be a Sony fanboy, a canon fanboy whatever..... that being said, i've had great experience with my Canon cameras (5D MKIII, 1dMK4, 1dmk3) and alot of my canon lenses.... and so Far... i'm really enjoying my the experience with my Sony A7...

i think Sony did a great job with the A7.....

Why so many extra pins? It almost seems like you can attach another viewfinder.

Being first out of the gate for a body in this category doesn't give you a free pass on reasonable pricing -- not enough data yet. We'll see in a couple years how the market looks and where this line of bodies lives.

As it is, they are selling a $200 lens for $300: http://store.sony.com …atid-All-Alpha-NEX-Lenses (external link). Maybe it compares more to the Canon STM for $300? Not sure, but doesn't seem like a good deal for an f/3.5-5.6 lens

You cant Post Process image Quality & Bokeh, guys.... the only editing i do to my street photography is resize and watermark them... i might edit one to black and white but that's about it when it comes to my street photography.

David, don't get me wrong, I find your street photos very pleasing and well composed and executed.

However, I see a faint telltale halo between the sharp subject and the bokeh in the background in almost every photo. I am not familiar with the Sony to know whether the contrast which is apparent in your photos is there in the RAW-equivalent, or there is some action which takes place and you may not be aware. Are these RAW or camera-produced jpegs?

And yes, you can process bokeh to death...:D If you start with good enough image quality... I have some pretty badly executed proofs of concept done with a Ixus 960 (a P&S) showing a f1.2-style bokeh. I am sure that people more proficient in masking and brushes can do a more credible job than I can...

In the absence of a lower-priced alternative the charge that the A7/R is "overpriced" lacks all legitimacy. Even comparing it to other DSLR FF options, it seems very well-priced to me.

Two of the things I don't care about:

1) mirrorless cameras
2) Sony products

I would add AT&T but thats worse than not caring, I actively despise them;)

I'm not the biggest sony fan either, pretty much hate them as a company, but they do offer something special with the A7/A7r.

it's kinda like how bluray won hddvd..... it happened, so now we have to live with it. Until someone can match what sony did, it's all we have.

Why, do you feel the value in popping in on a thread about a mirrorless camera - and a Sony one at that - just to say you don't care about them? There are lots of things I don't care about, but I don't pop into those threads just to say I don't care about them. Just trolling I guess. ;)

Why have a thread about Sony Mirrorless cameras on a Canon DSLR Forum? Trolling I guess.

I get what he's saying though. Sony as a company comes up with all kinds of crazy electronic gadgets on proprietary platforms... and there's downsides which manifest in all their systems. Maybe in 7 series as well.

I have similar concerns about buying a camera from Sony. You bring up points that have lurked in my mind as well. From all I've seen, users of the A7's fixed lens predecessor, the RX1, seem pretty happy, so hopefully the A7 will prove similarly good.

You're right!

Take it up with the OP. ;)

The OP started this thread because this is the prefect tool to use our Canon gear (lenses) on.

This (Sony) body is the best Canon-able body released this year by far.

I have a Canon body for the high motion stuff and now I'm expecting a high MP/DR Sony body to use for all other purposes...

That's why this OP started this thread...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!
