I'd like to see the same test done with your 28-300 at 300mm. ;)

Ha ha ha, I STILL have my 28-300L  - Keep it for travel during my retirement

David Arbogast wrote in post #16596818 (external link)
I think the issue may be with lenses with a lens foot/ Your 200 f/2.8 doesn't have that, right? Like jdizzle mentioned, do it with a long lens with a lens foot fixed to the tripod (camera and adapter hanging off the tripod mounted lens). In any case, as others have already mentioned, there is a relatively easy workaround.

As for me, I definitely wanted to jump in on the A7 fun, but I'm just not ready to fully commit, so I just went with the A7. For now, if I need a bunch of megapixels I'll use my pano gear. ;)

Operationally I'm thrilled with the A7. The absolutely awesome EVF surpasses my expections, which were very high.

Ok, test time :D But 28-300L is soft wide open vs any L prime as we can see, but nothing to do with "vibration" any way. This time I used the self timer for 10 seconds instead 2 just in case:

I thought the shutter bounce issue on the R was at shutter speeds in the 1/100 region at longer focal lengths rather than multiple seconds. I should give my Sigma 150 a run today I think

jdizzle wrote in post #16596175 (external link)
I think you can't go wrong with either. If I were to keep it light and compact, I would go with a smaller option.

I've had experience with Novaflex's G adapter using it with the 5D III and 1Ds III. There was no real indication of aperture control but, it had a lever with three white markings for f 2.8, f 8, and f 22. Although, after researching a bit, the Metabones might be a better option for this. I guess AF performance and aperture control performance might be similar to the Sony to EF adapter but, I won't know until I try it out.

The metbones G adaptor still has no electronics (just a ring like the Novoflex to drive the aperture lever on the back of the lens) so AF performance is going to be worse than the Mk 3 EF smart adaptor

Just some thinking:

Maybe those lighter telephoto lens as 70-200L f/4 (with / without IS) might have vibration, which I can't tell as I don't have one.

But something like 70-200L f/2.8 or 28-300L whose heavy lens, a7 / a7R just so tiny and very unlikely has much effect on the final photo with the shutter vibration I think.

Also ILCE possible mean I Love Canon EOS :lol::lol:?

As you can see, I'm wishfully thinking. ;) I'm aware that there is no manufacturer that makes an adapter with AF capability. The problem is mapping Nikon's AF to the NEX pins. I'm wondering how I can use my Zeiss ZF.2 lenses since Meta released a new adapter with a click thingamajiggy. I'm not sure how that works. Let me know if you find a solution.

^^^ Nice shots Davids (dtufino & Arbogast) :)

Just finish my weekend walk, and make a 'shocking' decision: I'm going get rid of my 5D2 and almost all my Canon lenses.

But no more Nikon month lens as ALL of Nikon to Sony adepters are just piece of metal without any electrical communication between the lens and Sony body.

I agree. Maybe it's just me but one thing I've noticed is how well this camera seems to handle reds.

I've been shooting with my FL 135 and I wish I could nail shots like yours. Full manual handheld on all your shots?

Cool; what new lenses are in your plans (if any)?

I'm not giving up on Canon just yet. My decision to get the a7 over the a7R really came down to a basic strategy about my gear: I wanted a lightweight walkaround camera perfectly suited to my ZE lenses, and the a7 is an absolutely perfect fit. Frankly I just don't want or care about 36 MP for a walkaround camera. But, I also want a high resolution camera (36 MP+) for tripod-work (landscapes and architecture), and I am hoping Canon finally delivers that. However, if Canon fails I may eventually need to get an a7R (or its successor) later.

Ideally Canon makes a 46MP camera with a shooting speed similar to 5D III - that would also be great for bird photography. :)

Thanks, and I've read similar comments from A7(R) users; you're not the only one.

Super cool shots guys! David A., this Zeiss 135 is really really awesome! Wow!

Thanks. The Zeiss 2/135mm is insanely sharp and extremely well-corrected. Awesome contrast even shooting at max aperture. The bokeh is superb and clean, but seems more structured and less creamy than the Canon model seems to be. All in all, the lens suits me well, and is a total delight to shoot with on the a7!

Some a7 initual thoughts:
1. Better than expected; the a7 has (so far) exceeded my expectations mostly because of the amazing EVF/LV system.
2. Zeiss ZE/ZF.2 lenses are heavy (all metal and glass construction), so it is wonderful to mount them on a camera that weighs next to nothing. The camera literally feels like it's just a convenience handle for the lens! ;)
3. EVF is sensational!!! Because the refresh rate is so fantastic, it feels leaps and bounds superior to Canon/s LV (which itself is superior to the Nikon D800's LV system). It is an absolute joy to use.
4. DR. Well, of course we like greater DR, but so far it's been very practical. With my 5D III I shoot in full manual mode in order to protect my highlight detail; because shooting in aperture priority mode has led to a lot of blown highlights. But, I shot all day on the a7 in aperture priority yesterday and only had one shot with unrecoverable highlights. I can focus less on settings and more on framing and focusing. So, great DR is about good ergonomics too. :)
5. I knew the a7 has an AA filter, but it seems a bit stronger than I expected. The files can withstand aggressive sharpening without halos. Depending on what Canon does in 2014, I may eventually get an a7R too.
6. Metabones III does pretty decent AF with my 24-70 II. Not blazing fast, but accurate and faster than I expected. I guess I had really low expectations. ;)

I can't remember where I read about this, but the Zebra function is pretty cool. I have my a7R set to RAW+JPEG. I then set the picture style to neutral, Adobe colorspace, and -2 contast. Turn on Zebra 100+ and I pretty much have live highlight clipping indication in both the EVF and LCD. If you set the camera to auto ISO and shoot in manual...you can basically use the exposure compensation dial as a brain dead way to shoot...looking for the zebra patterns and adjusting accordingly. (You can also use the technique in Aperture and Shutter priority.)

In any case I'm really liking the Zebra concept so far.

These shots are amazing, I'm very tempted to purchase an A7/7R to use with my TS-E24 II, has anyone tried this combo? Apologies if has been posted already.

"The" Fred Miranda on the Fred Miranda site is using the TS-E lenses on the a7R. Would be good to read his posts over there. He had to add flocking to the Metabones III to cut down on reflections.
