^^^ Nice shots Davids (dtufino & Arbogast)

Just finish my weekend walk, and make a 'shocking' decision: I'm going get rid of my 5D2 and almost all my Canon lenses.
But no more Nikon month lens as
ALL of Nikon to Sony adepters are just piece of metal without any electrical communication between the lens and Sony body.
Cool; what new lenses are in your plans (if any)?
I'm not giving up on Canon just yet. My decision to get the a7 over the a7R really came down to a basic strategy about my gear: I wanted a lightweight walkaround camera perfectly suited to my ZE lenses, and the a7 is an absolutely perfect fit. Frankly I just don't want or care about 36 MP for a walkaround camera. But, I also want a high resolution camera (36 MP+) for tripod-work (landscapes and architecture), and I am hoping Canon finally delivers that. However, if Canon fails I may eventually need to get an a7R (or its successor) later.
Ideally Canon makes a 46MP camera with a shooting speed similar to 5D III - that would also be great for bird photography.

I agree. Maybe it's just me but one thing I've noticed is how well this camera seems to handle reds.
Thanks, and I've read similar comments from A7(R) users; you're not the only one.

Super cool shots guys! David A., this Zeiss 135 is really really awesome! Wow!
Thanks. The Zeiss 2/135mm is insanely sharp and extremely well-corrected. Awesome contrast even shooting at max aperture. The bokeh is superb and clean, but seems more structured and less creamy than the Canon model seems to be. All in all, the lens suits me well, and is a total delight to shoot with on the a7!
Some a7 initual thoughts:
1. Better than expected; the a7 has (so far) exceeded my expectations mostly because of the amazing EVF/LV system.
2. Zeiss ZE/ZF.2 lenses are heavy (all metal and glass construction), so it is wonderful to mount them on a camera that weighs next to nothing. The camera literally feels like it's just a convenience handle for the lens!
3. EVF is sensational!!! Because the refresh rate is so fantastic, it feels leaps and bounds superior to Canon/s LV (which itself is superior to the Nikon D800's LV system). It is an absolute joy to use.
4. DR. Well, of course we like greater DR, but so far it's been very practical. With my 5D III I shoot in full manual mode in order to protect my highlight detail; because shooting in aperture priority mode has led to a lot of blown highlights. But, I shot all day on the a7 in aperture priority yesterday and only had one shot with unrecoverable highlights. I can focus less on settings and more on framing and focusing. So, great DR is about good ergonomics too.
5. I knew the a7 has an AA filter, but it seems a bit stronger than I expected. The files can withstand aggressive sharpening without halos. Depending on what Canon does in 2014, I may eventually get an a7R too.
6. Metabones III does pretty decent AF with my 24-70 II. Not blazing fast, but accurate and faster than I expected. I guess I had really low expectations.
