Thanks for the generous offer! However, they sent it out today via express post, so I'm expecting it in the next day or so.

Fingers crossed

I hope Aus Post works quicker for you than they did for me. Like I said, I got the email the next day after completing the redemption. Almost two weeks later the package arrived in my PO box. It was pretty tragic (at least to my wife) me going out of my way every afternoon just to check the box just in case the adaptor had arrived

If it doesn't, I might take you up on that offer!

Also going by this production map on Sony website, any ideas/rumours on what the next Prime might be?

^^^^ Hmmmm would like to know that myself. As well as the ultra wide zoom & macro lenses.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the next prime is something like an 85mm f/1.8. That's what the next Otus is going to be and they will likely make an FE 85mm for the same reasons. Just my guess though.

So, it's not mandatory to shoot at 36MP all the time? If this is true, what would be the lower resolution options?

Hey there!

Although I didn't get to play with it too much yet, initial impressions are very very positive. Battery life stinks, but I think I will start liking this camera more and more.. :D 36MP is sweet and DR is crazy good!!

Congrats on the new camera. To answer your first question; yes, if you shoot raw, the only size is 36mp. You can change the size of jpgs the camera shoots. One work around for smaller raw file sizes is to use EF-S lenses. That'll give you 4800 x 3200 @ 15.34mb instead of 7360 x 4912 @ 35.16mb (approx). :D I don't think you'll have any problems with your computer handling the additional file size from the Sony and as mentioned earlier, memory is pretty cheap nowadays.

To help with battery life, although still nothing like the Canon, it helps to turn ON "airplane mode" under the wi-fi tab. You could also turn off Pre-AF on page 2 of the settings tab. That enables the camera to continuously adjust focus as you move the camera around rather than only when you depress the shutter half way. There may be other settings that can be changed to help maximise battery life but these are the two that come to mind for now.

Thank you Gene!! I am actually trying the "deactive monitor" option via C3... Maybe that could help too? :) Regardless, I am thoroughly enjoying this little fella. :D

Only took a day to arrive! Hopefully get out on the weekend to take some test shots with it!

To anyone looking for spare batteries & chargers in Australia for your A7 or A7r. This place was very good.

http://www.camera-battery.com.au …a-battery/sony/alpha/a7r/ (external link)

And for a charger that can be used in car as well.

I have 4 batteries now & the in car charger so I don't really worry about running out of battery power.

Thanks for the reference. I ended up getting a Wasabi Power charger and 2 battery package off a US ebay seller but the charger has a US plug on it. Might be useful to have a second charger
