My friend just ordered this. It made me laugh. He doesn't shoot video and will be using it with a D7100. I would like to hear peoples thoughts on this SD card. Does anyone know of a good place to read up on memory cards like why 600x cards don't seem to all have the same write rates?

Wow that is an expensive card. I believe the 600x rating is based on minimum write speed. Often the list manufactor speed is there fastest read/write speeds. I haven't heard of that brand before and would never spend tha much on a unknown brand. Lexor/San Disk are the main brands that come to mine when I think of reliable card makers.

Also one thing with SD cards, the memory controller is in the camera or sd card reader, not the card itself, so often many products memory controllers won't read/write at anywhere near the cards listed speed.

One has to be cautious. That card was sold by 42nd Street Photo , not 47th Street Photo which has been around since 1965. 47th Street Photo is in the same league as B&H and Adorama, or certainly was in times past.

42nd Street Photo is one of the numerous shops near/around Times Square that literally grab you (and your money) as you walk by.

Many of the Amazon offerings state "Ships from and sold by*42nd Street Photo" so it is the same source. Even those that aren't 42nd Street Photo are often questionable, like "kids speed").
