I hope I'm not breaking any POTN rules, but there is some work on one of the threads that may not be noticed. Pull this post if I'm stepping on any toes.

Jesus is posting some amazing stuff.

According to some books, Jesus' dad created light. So you'd hope he'd have some of those same talents. :D

Those are fantastic images though. Beautiful.

I like the lighting on this one because it has more drama to it although she looks like she's tipping over to the right a bit. No doubt that the other series are fine examples but personally I find most of them to be too "studio" for weddings. And in some ways they are, because my understanding is that they weren't shot on the day of the wedding but afterwards.

Sorry to be a ball buster. Not trying to upset the Jesus fan club.

That said, yeah...good work indeed.

I wonder if his clients care that they weren't taken on 'the day'. Personally, I don't care at all. This is the first time that I've seen any of these, and I'd be VERY happy if I were the client.

I like how you're trying to use the word studio to mean something weird.

They were obviously not shot in a studio. I like most of them, but do agree that the first one is a bit too dramatic, also her facial expression puts me off. I can imagine her loving the photo but feeling bad about herself (since we notice our own faces most), but facial expressions are very much a photographer's job.

Makes sense. Padilla's photo's are awesome. Now that I know his dad created light, it all makes sense.

I was using the word "studio" not in a weird way. I meant it as a shot where you have time to set things up and get the lighting right and be more elaborate about it. You can afford to do this when you are shooting these types of shots after the actual wedding day. Not so much on the actual wedding day unless you have PLENTY of time.

Other than the posing, I actually like the lighting on the first link precisely because it's more dramatic and the lighting is more interesting. More dimensional too.

But quite honestly, they all look very good. Just making some comments that's all.

J.P. does some outstanding work. That's pretty clear.

I'm sure the clients were happy.

Not too typical to have a shoot like this after the wedding day in my neck of the woods but if that was part of the package and these photos are what they received, yes, no doubt they were happy about them.

Neither you or Dave are breaking any rules that I'm aware of, and yes, Jesus seems to be fully in command of his light. Thanks for bringing these images to our attention. :)

In addition to Jesus' command of his lighting technique, what I like is his ability to sell clients on a "day after" photo shoot. That's really smart, in my view, any client that buys that option is saying they agree with him that time is of the essence on their wedding day, but that they are willing to invest time and money to get memorable images for their wall, family and children to enjoy.

We all know how hard it is to get a bride and groom to give us the poses and expressions we want. That is one area where constant improvement is essential.

I agree there is probably a fair amount of post processing. So? If I were selling this, I'd position it as a private fashion shoot, and that implies lots of post processing.
