I'd rather have better ISO performance than a higher MP count. Hell 20ish is already much more than I need if I'm not cropping.

I wonder if they are counting the dual pixel design as individual pixels? That would make more sense since this puts it in the 23mp range.

yeah that might make some sense

Why not.
Sigma triple counts the Foveon pixels.

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

In the Sigma case, there are three pixels, they are just stacked on top of one another. Canon's dual pixel thing is a bit different as each pixel just has two sensors but still delivers only one level.

"What I do NOT want to see on this Canon 7DII thread and others is people not understanding what sunk costs and "already paid for" R&D are..."

Oh, I know what sunk costs are. I also know video's not going anywhere. The development - of video, perhaps not GPS or WLAN - does continue and that, in turn, costs.

It's no biggie. It's unavoidable across the industry and Canon's still-photo capabilities really don't seem to be negatively impacted by the presence of video, so I hand them my cash and simply ignore what I don't use.

But hey, I'm also someone who thinks the EOS M and 5D3 are near-perfect cameras, so what do I know!

I used to think that Canon would never read forums like this. But now I think they do. They've perused this thread and dumped all the "what I don't want" whines in to a matrix and realized that the only option was to not release a 7DII. It was the only way to satisfy their customer base.

Why would you not want technology like Dual pixel AF to be developed and put on the next EOS M? Yeah it's "video tech", but it would be such a boost for AF speed on that camera...

I think they can improve the M

By a lot. Of all the mirrorless cameras, the M has to be the poorest execution of that technology. I haven't shot them all but I have handled the M, Sony6000 and a7, and the Fuji E1 and the M just looked sort of like a 1/2 a$$ed attempt, like their heart wasn't in it.

I'd be fine with no video, no WiFi, and no Touchscreen. I would like GPS and an articulated LCD (no touch screen), though.

Not too sure I want a 46 megapixel sensor either!?

Is this good or bad?

Would be great at airshows, I could use a decent 400mm and be done then... if they make it AF at f/8, that would be even better..........
