i see

it seems like it may be time to move on from the 622 and switch to godox triggers. its stupid that the ttl trigger doesnt have the remote functions, and that the remote cannot turn HSS on/off though.

If you already have the 622's to go with the godox it makes a very nice combination. I agree it would be so much better if godox had an all in one trigger. I think they will bring one out at some point, they have to know they are missing sales because of it. And since its like they directly try to compete with the yn's its got to drive them nuts that to make their flashes work best you need a yn trigger :)

Looking to grab a couple of these(Neewer TT860[for TTL] & TT850) with the wireless trigger(Neewer 433MHz).
Quick question or confirmation request; not only can use the trigger on-camera to fire the 860 ttl and the 850 manually but I can change their individual settings... right?

Yes if you put them in 2 separate groups you can control the power to each group.

BUT if the ft-16 is on the camera hot shoe you are not going to fire the v860 in ttl mode. It will be a manual flash at that point.

Thought so, I'm still caffeine free at the moment. Thanks!

I just wanted to share a recent experience with Neewer battery vs Cheetah battery for my TT850. I noticed that even though I had charged both batteries around the same time, the Neewer battery had lost complete charge in about 10 days without being used, while the Cheetah branded battery showed full charge. It may be an anomaly, and I will test this again with intent, but i feel that the neewer branded batteries are inferior. (I say this because with another Neewer TT850, the battery was a dud and wouldnt hold charge after 25-30 full power flashes, hence i bought a Cheetah branded replacement)
Just wanted to put it out there :)

I have three Neewer batteries. Not a problem with a single one. *knock on wood*

Neewer, Cheetah and others all get these devices from Godox. If there is a battery problem its a QC issue at Godox. I know Edward pushes Godox very hard on QC so maybe they are shipping him only confirmed product. Just a guess.

Godox are the actual manufacturer of the 180 and 360 power pack flashes and the 850/860 integral power flash units

Any variation you may see in brand - Cheetah, Lencarta Atom, Calumet Genesis, Adorama Flashpoint, Neewer, Interfit Stobies, Walimex Pro Lightshooter, Fred Flintstone Fantastic Flash and no doubt many others - lies solely in the paint on the side. They are all re-brands of the Godox product. Often the rebranding is to ensure that the actual seller is the one responsible for warranty costs. There aren't dozens of factories all making amazingly similar units to sell under their own name - they're all from one source.

Similarly, any variations you may see in specification is down to the marketing dept. of the various sellers and their possibly liberal interpretation  of the basic Godox specification.

In the USA, for example, I have been told that a major reason for the Cheetah brand is because certain less-than-scrupulous users have bought cheaply from Hong Kong / Kowloon / Shenzhen and then, for their own convenience, gone to Edward to get any little problems fixed at his expense. Undoubtedly amoral but unfortunately it does take place and businesses have to protect themselves against these - let's face it - THIEVES who haven't contributed to a business's profits but still expect free service.

This differentiation of products in different markets also explains, for example, why the Canon EOS650 is called the Canon T4i in the USA - so that distributors in different parts of the world can discriminate between products which they have sold (and whose selling price included an element for warranty repair) and those from elsewhere.

Phil ǁ Kershaw Soho Reflex: 4¼" Ross Xpres, 6½" Aldis, Super XX/ABC Pyro in 24 DDS, HP3/Meritol Metol in RFH, Johnson 'Scales' brand flash powder. Kodak Duo Six-20/Verichrome Pan. Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

First of all, my test above wasnt with intent, just something i noticed - so i wont call it conclusive in any way, however, the first neewer battery that i got with my 1st TT850 doesnt hold charge at all (so thats a confirmed bad QC). The second Neewer battery that came with the second flash works normally but appeared to not hold charge for as long as the Cheetah branded one.

Yes, i understand that all of these units are made by Godox (I also have the AD360 with the battery pack under Genesis brand from Calumet) but its possible that Neewer, specially since they sell their units cheap, get passed on the "seconds" variety of goods (its just a guess on my part and from reading reviews on amazon) though the flash unit itself seem to be of the same quality.

I wont be surprised if its just my luck to get all the duds :)

OT: Your gear list is all Fuji - did you move away from Canon? How do you like the XT 1? How is it in speed and accuracy of focusing? I am thinking of getting one - already have the X100s but focusing speed and accuracy leaves much to be desired.

I recently sold all of my Canon gear (5D2 + 5 L lenses) in favor of Fuji. It fits my needs. Don't wanna take this completely OT, so PM me if you're interested in hearing more about my decision to switch.

The Fuji X-T1 came last in a recent shoot out (external link) but in terms of accuracy it was apparently great and it may still be fast enough for you.

1800 full-pops or 900 full-pops with 2 flashes in one battery

will in the future also make batteries to use inside the flash, as its very very cheap to buy 18500 batteries and use inside the flash, connecting in the external connector
