f6.3 or not, if this lens is under the $4k mark (which i'm sure it will) , its going to open the door to wildlife photography for a lot of people

This is correct. For those who cannot or will not justify spending $12K on a big white 600mm L lens. This is an excellent opportunity for many "common" folks to experience what appears to be a sharp, LONG lens.

You simply need good light. That seems to be a fair trade for a $10.5K savings.

Would have been nice to have the bison at f6.3 and f8... f9 cover all bases

I've seen that price in Japan (when converted from 140,000 Yen), but haven't seen anything that the US price is $1350. Got a link to the $1350 price here?

I was just going off of your link, rick. It seems it's been updated. It does say "around" $1350 in the US, so it seems that it isn't confirmed to be the official price in the US just yet.

Sounds "too" cheap.. i'm worried. They're either pricing it so cheap, as it doesn't live up to the standards they (and we) expected.. or they're trying to compete with Sigma's 150-500 OS..which would still mean.. disappointment.

Yep, you're right.. was just going to correct myself, I thought the parentheses contained the updated price.
