I would be surprised if it's that low. This is their chance to compete in the big league. This world already have too much so-so lenses.

Seriously, those are some nice looking 100% shots! I was thinking I'd get a 120-300 2.8 with a 2x TC but... I think that this lens will top that quality by a good margin.

I don't know. The Hawk we saw before and has a nice, clear eye. But of the others only the Fox is sharp and the last Stag looks pretty decent as well. The Gull image is very bad and the other Deer shots (second and third to last) are also soft to very soft.

Dear Levina,

The gull image has wing motion in it that messes it up, at least to me. The rest of the images look fine to me when I measure them against my expected goals for a 600mm lens. I'm a hobbyist so I recognize that my goals aren't the same as everyone else's. Still, it looks fine to me.

If this lens is available under $ 2000.00 it will sell strongly since the alternatives for 600mm require 3X's the money for a native 600mm, or at least 2X's the money plus the additional requirement of a TC, or even two TC's depending on what lens you are using.

If it performs comparably to how the Tamron 70-200f2.8 VC does they won't be able to make them fast enough.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :)

If there are 1000 photos and only one is sharp, the lens is sharp. Dull lenses don't give sharp results by chance. Sharp lenses give soft shots with compromised conditions or technique.

I see aliasing in the hairs hanging over the eyes of the fox. That's all I need to see, to know that I will probably use a 1.4x with this lens unless I need fast AF.
