Their website (wolfcamera) STILL says ships within 7 days. If this is a blatant lie then I will talk ill of them every chance I get.

Weird, but I can't find the add to cart button. Maybe ordering is by phone only?

Anyway, it would be pretty rotten if they say 7 days, but really takes a month.

You are looking at wolfcamera.com and NOT wolfes.com, right ? Wolfcamera for nikon mount says pre-order but will allow an add to cart---canon mount says ships within 7 days and allows an add to cart. The add to cart button is very prominent.

Typically Tamron used to be "Made in Japan"...
Anyways.. It was unexpected though..

their consumer stuff is made in china, and this is a consumer lens. Their F2.8 zooms are another class, and they make those in Japan. Either way, incredibly good value for a 600mm lens.

Ah. Okay.
I thought all are made in Japan like their rival Sigma (or did they also split it..?)

Just spoke with them. Yes they admit to not changing their website "for some reason" to reflect pre-order. They are actually out of stock and they now say they have no idea when they will receive. They offered to cancel my order which I readily agreed to. I WILL STAY CLEAR OF THEM.

Order cancellation completed and I re-ordered with the egg whose website supposedly says they have the product and will begin shipping the 15th. Now I find the in stock message to be suspect or why would they need to wait until the 15th... And no telling how many are on list ahead of me. I am not going to sweat it like so many others because recently I got the 400L prime which I need to start using...GAS in full swing..lol. When it shows it shows...but I did not appreciate the in the face deceptiveness of wolfcamera.com (ritz).

There has to be some shortcut to getting that price point - as everything else about the lens seems to be well done. Apple products are all made in China too...

newegg is the best bet. I was monitoring their site. About few weeks before July they starting mentioning ETA 7/4. Abut last week of june they actually had pre-order opened. The ETA then moved to 7/11 and now 7/15.
The fact that they did not have pr-order all along makes me think they will deliver what they are saying.

thanks for the heads up on newegg.com. i've been tracking this lens for a while now and finally bit the bullet on pre-ordering it. Who knows how many people are ahead of me. but at least with newegg, they give you some glimmer of hope as to when they will get shipments. every other website or store seems devoid of information.

just hope to get this lens in before our trip to africa in October!

Heya,

Just to point out, it may be worth the wait for customer service and return policies that are unbeatable if you're jumping on a lens like this. I waited for several weeks from BH because I knew there'd be zero hassle returning it, if it wasn't working as I wanted out of the box (I'm not sending my body & lens to Canon for calibration), regardless of defect, or just changed your mind on the purchase.

I'm not sure how newegg responds to returns. Just keep that in mind.

Very best,

good thing to keep in mind. newegg has a really good reputation for customer service. i've been using them since early 2000's for computer parts, so i'm hopeful that there would be no issues with camera gear. i've heard nothing but good things about their return policies, but luckily i've never had to return anything!

Yes I've built 4 computers now with parts from the egg. I have to say their packaging is MUCH better than Amazon. No worries whatsoever.
