Tamron developing 150-600mm VC USD lens

After looking at the photo of the life preserver across the lake @ I assume 100% crop and with poor lighting conditions, I'm excited. The detail seems to be all there and very good.

Can't wait to receive my copy and do some real world tests of my own.

Hello everyone , i am a new member here and as my main interest is bird photography i am following this thread closely and with great interest .
Can i respectfuly suggest that anyone looking for sample images etc may find it helpful to keep an eye on the following page

this lens has me stomped. to get 150-600mm 6.3 or a TC 2x III for my 70-200mm? With the sharpness of the 70-200mm, I could always crop? ^_^

I have the 70-200L 2.8 II with the TC 2X III and just for reference, the 100-400L walks all over that combination. It is a fair and useful tool with the 2X III just not as good as the 100-400 is @ 400. Imho of course.

This new Tamron hints that it is at least as good as the 100-400 is with the 1.4 TC, probably better at 560mm +. The proof will be in the pudding with real world test results of my own, for my own opinion of course. The pictures that are starting to trickle in are promising, to say the least.

No I don't and I apologize if I wrote as if I did, it was not intended.

I do have one on order from Adorama though, ordered one the same day it was available for preorder. It is due to be shipped on the 17th.

Basically they were saying the VC and motor are quiet. The center at 600mm is sharper than the Sigma 50-500 at 500mm.

Ship! Ship damn you!

No I haven't ordered but ship to people who have so we have moar mwoarrrr sample photos! With enough users to get a firm reading on whether this lens is 150-500 or 50-500/100-400 territory (or heck even higher) especially given the price is more competing with the former. Though from the samples it looks like it would walk all over my Sigma 120-300 w/ 2x TC at f/8. That is where I might be tempted to get one!

I pre-ordered one from B&H. I figure if I don't like it I can always return it. Now I have to put my 300 F4 IS up for sale!

When Tamron 150-600 is mounted on 5D Classic body, does this gear have enough flash AF speed for birding photography?

This lens may become very good choice for not-rich people but want to take birding and wildlife photographs?

Hard to say; I haven't seen any reviews of it on a 5D classic yet. The reviews on a 5D3 were quite positive, though.
