This lens may become very good choice for not-rich people but want to take birding and wildlife photographs?

I'm sure that's what Tamron is hoping. The Sigma 50-500 is the current king of that market, but the Tamron is less expensive and longer, so if the IQ is the same, I'm sure it will kill Sigma's market.

Gripped 7D, gripped, full-spectrum modfied T1i (500D), SX50HS, A2E film body, Tamzooka (150-600), Tamron 90mm/2.8 VC (ver 2), Tamron 18-270 VC, Canon FD 100 f/4.0 macro, Canon 24-105 f/4L,Canon EF 200 f/2.8LII, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron Adaptall 2 90mmf/2.5 Macro, Tokina 11-16, Canon EX-430 flash, Vivitar DF-383 flash, Astro-Tech AT6RC and Celestron NexStar 102 GT telescopes, various other semi-crappy manual lenses and stuff.

sure it does do AF , and body will show correct EXIF as 6.3 ( not sure how they fake the body to made body think the max aperture may be a 5.6 )

Does it show as f/6.3 in both the EXIF in the files, and the LCD also?

using with 600D no problem and i even can put a kenko 1.4 on it. although this time it cannot report correct exif (still F6.3 at tele) , but af are working.

Which Kenko 1.4? There are a few different Kenko 1.4 TC, with 3 different modes of operation: non-reporting, reporting (Pro 300 DG), and reporting with tricking (Pro 300 DGX).

It's struggling on 600mm,probably because 6.3 is not enough for the side AF point.Im sure i will use only center on 550D :).Maybe MF first, then AF.

There are other AF points besides the one in the center? ;)

The center at 600mm is sharper than the Sigma 50-500 at 500mm.

That is all the IQ I'm hoping for, at this price and length. Especially since I'll actually be comparing to the 150-500, which seems generally to be considered a bit inferior to the 50-500.

Can't wait to get one in my hands!

I pre-ordered one from B&H. The proof will be in the pudding as they say. Looking forward to trying it out just for the fun of it. :)

Same? The-digital-picture.com's test of Sigma 150-500mm looks terrible http://www.the-digital-picture.com …omp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0 (external link)

A good choice for people who can afford the big whites but don't want to carry them around, as well, or don't think that they are worth what they cost, even if they are the best, optically (not an issue if you resell them, but an issue if you keep them).

I said 50-500, not 150-500. The 50-500 is better.

Yeah, I'm also interested in this lens as a lighter backup for my Sigma 120-300 2.8 OS + TC. Little over half the weight.

except it's not really cheap...it's pretty much the same price as the 100-400L...so i'd say the 150-500OS is actually the current king of cheap long telephotos...

the center doesn't look too bad...and honestly where that last crop is in the frame doesn't matter to me at all...i've got some shots at 500mm f8 that end up being pretty good...i'm not sure if i'd want a 5D classic with this lens for wildlife though...i think i'd rather have a crop body

Basically they were saying the VC and motor are quiet. The center at 600mm is sharper than the Sigma 50-500 at 500mm.

My apology, they said the Tammy's center at 600mm is better the the Sigma's 150-500mm at 500mm, NOT the Sigma 50-500mm as I posted earlier. My bad.

Check out https://www.facebook.com/TamronPhotoClub (external link).

They posted the newer 100% cropped pictures in the last couple hours. You don't really need to understand what was written. The pictures speak for themselves. The Tamron Club in Hong Kong organized an outing for testing the lens.

Not bad at all. Sure it's not pixel sharp SOOC but with some PP will turn out to be a real winner. Nice budget 600mm zoom.

I believe it's a winner for it's intended market!

We hit up the zoo about 20 times a year. This will be the perfect lens for my trips.

Agreed. Depends on a persons budget, obviously, but the 50-500 was what I really wanted, but could not afford. So I've been using the 150-500, because that was within my budget. The price of the new Tamron is exactly what I paid for my 150-500 new a couple of years ago.

I've been pretty happy with the 150-500 too, I might add. Might be terrible IQ to some, but I've captured plenty of images with it that have made me happy.

Hopefully, it won't be more than a few more weeks before I have the Tamron to compare with.
