Which processing do you like?

As the title states. Which do you prefer? And why? Anything I can do to make either better? Thanks in advance!

I have LR5 and PS CS6. I only used Lightroom here, if I was going to call them final I would run them through PS to clean up a few lines and blemishes, but not to adjust color. These are my own settings, not online presets.

#2 gets my vote.

i like the feel #1 has. both look good though, imo

#1.. would maybe adjust the pupils on the mother so she's looking at the camera.

I prefer the skin tones and blacks in #2. Also appears sharper but perhaps that is the better contrast.

Oh, #2 for sure...both are looking pretty good though. Matter of taste perhaps.

Put them side by side in LR and check the histograms. #1 has a black point too far to the right. #2 moves that back to the left.

No2 for me, purely because the contrast helps the sharpness and makes the image 'pop'

Thanks for all the response! I like both personally. Number 1 has a "feel" to it as mentioned. I'm trying to find a balance between that feel and still good IQ, it seems a bit overdone.

Titus your right, I purposely pushed the tone curve up to achieve that.

I think I may end up supplying them with versions of each edit and letting them decide. Is that common?

I like both, but #1 gets my vote. I enjoy the slightly desaturated look and toning on the low end.

In either one you might try cloning out that fuzzy leaf on his leg. I like #2 too.

#2 for sure, IMHO. Nice composition and framed well, the BG is interesting and not distracting. I bet they'll be happy with this.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Here's my final take at it. Anything to improve? One has a +10 bump in contrast, hard to say which I like more. What usually prints better? More contrasty or a touch less?
