For a single walkabout FF lens, I think it's hard to beat the 24-105. Good range, and IS is nice to compensate for f4. I often pop the 50/1.4 in the bag to handle low light needs since it's pretty light and compact.
When I'm willing to haul more weight and bulk, I leave the 24-105 at home and go with the 16-35, 50, and 70-200.

I travel a lot, and for a crop camera a single lens solution is 15-85. It will correspond approx to 24-65 on a full frame. I used it in many places in Europe and USA. However, it is not enough for Hong Kong. There I wanted both, a normal zoom plus a telephoto, which I did not have at the time.

I used to bring a fast prime with me, Sigma 30 mm, for indoors. I do not do that any more, I just bump up the ISO, which is good on the 6D.

the 15-85 actually corisponds to 24-136 on ff not 24-65

You got me. Of course you are correct. I was thinking of something else when typing. Sorry.
