Sigma is rumored to be currently working on a firmware update which will allow to use the Sigma USB Dock ($59) with other/older Sigma lenses. It is not clear if they are trying to make the dock compatible with all Sigma lenses or only selected few. Today you can use the USB Dock only with A, C and S series Sigma lenses.

If this ends up being true, this would be EPIC!

that would indeed be epic. I would be more interested in their 85 if so!! :)
but wouldn't it eat into sales for the newest 120-300?

Doesn't really matter as long as people are still buying the 120-300, old or new. I would think Sigma doesn't care about stuff like eating into their own sales, they care more about eating into OEM sales ;)

This would truly be great if they managed to do that.

yes, EPIC!
I'm not sure how it would work if a lens doesn't have a USB port but I'm all for lens epicness

They'll probably supply a kit for adding a USB port. This is a smart move, my experience with them is they have a problem doing quality control before product leaves the factory, this little move will effectively outsource that function to the consumer. Perfect.

Outstanding if they can make it happen from a marketing standpoint. Should really boost their customer service points too.

I love my Siggy 85 but she back focuses a touch at certain times. If this can make this lens even more perfect, that's just awesome!

That will also make the 30mm 1.4 for crops an amazing piece of glass!

There is no need for a USB port, the new lenses don't have one either, the dock uses the contacts on the back of the lens to communicate

this would be awesome. Would make the 50 1.4 less worrisome purchase then
