Hi Guys. I have been taking product photos for my business. I take photos of mostly packaged food, like cereal boxes. Presently I am using a few remote 430EX II flashes shooting through umbrellas. I'm looking to upgrade my lighting setup.
I would love to go strobes and softboxes. The setups I've been looking at with power quickly jump in to the thousands for cost. I'm not sure I'm ready to take that leap yet.
I have been seeing and reading a lot about LED lighting options. It seems like the pros frown on using continuous lighting for product photos, but a lot of people are making it work. I like LEDs as they take less power and don't produce much heat. Not to mention they're cheaper!
Any thoughts or experiences? If I'm going to go strobes in the long run no matter, I would rather bite the bullet and do it now.
