8 New Canon Lenses in 2014!

Jesus if you are making a 12-24 scratch the other 2. Make a 85 1.4 with 4 stops IS, a 135 F1.8 with 4 stops, and how about a short like 16mm F1.8 with IS make something new not updated.....

I really need a 5000mm f1.4 for everyday lens.

Although 24-70 f2.8L IS sounds yummy

I find this hard to believe. Doesnt canon do 2-4 lenses a year?

Just the mention of a 2470 2.8 IS is a little ridiculous considering how recently they made the v2 update. There are far more lenses that need updating.

I don't think a 24-70 lens is coming. They will wait to see what Sigma does.

Things they desperately need to do:

Revamp the 50mm 1.2. It is all over the place. Needs to be sharper and not mis focus.

135L IS. - Very much needed.

35mm 1.4 - Needs an update to compete with Sigma.

85mm 1.2 IS. Keep optics the same, add IS and speed up the autofocus. Drop the current price down to $1499 and price this one at $1999

That above list is just internet speculation so I wouldn't put much stock in the specific lenses listed. I do think that Canon will release a number of lenses next year, though.

My personal wish list:

16-50 f/4L IS
24-105 f/4L IS II
100-400 f/4-5.6L IS II but not push-pull

I think 2 of those have a chance to be real but who knows.

They need a sharp 14-24 along the line of the Nikon lens, plus a replacement for the 100-400 and the 45mm and 90mm tilt-shifts. A 24-105 with better bokeh would also be nice. The superteles really don't need replacing.

But none of that matters if they can't come up with a better sensor... at best, the 14-24 and the tilt-shifts will be used on Sony bodies.

Why launch both a 16-50 & a 17-40 unless there is a big difference in price, this rumour sounds more like a wish list.

Finally! I hope they double the price for every lens too. /sarcasm

Unless the 16-50 is an EF-S lens.

Please let there be a 14-24/2.8. Having one wide angle/UWA lens in same lens would be so awesome. Also would love the 400/5.6 II. I just hope it would have IS.. And that it would not cost over 2k$
