I have been tracking my progress on holiday around the US with the 6D and have amassed a lot of files that I can copy to SD card and read in the Canon Map Utility.

I am looking for suggestions for the easiest way to put this onto a map on my blog. Preferably using an interactive map so people can zoom around etc.

In Maps Utility if I choose export to Google Maps it says 'will only export the selected logs'. I cannot work out how to select more than one file at a time.

Assuming either someone has a fix for that or I go through and individually export each log file, what is the best way to put that onto a map? I have currently tried google maps engine but it has very limited GPS import capabilities. The Maps Utility app will export to .kmz and nothing else from what I can tell.

I don't use the maps utility but you might try the standard Windows method of selecting multiple files. One way to select random files is hold down the "Ctrl" key while clicking on the file names, the perform the action.

If you were choosing many files in a list you can also click the first file, then hold down the "Shift" key while selecting the last file, then do the action.

As far as exporting, if you can I would suggest you export as a csv (comma separated variable) file as I know google maps can import the csv format.

I'll add a link that gives you the import steps.

The csv file I mentioned earlier is a type of Excel file.

Hi John,

None of those options are available (using Maps Utility on a Mac but have tried all the key combinations I can think of), hence my confusion at how people are actually using the gps log data from the 6D in a work-flow friendly manner?

While I still haven't used it for my 6D logs, gpsbabel (free from gpsbabel.org) can convert all sorts of GPS tracks to other formats. Very useful for mapping geekery.
