Here is a combination of visual light and IR that I took this weekend. I'm still experimenting with a Hoya R-72 IR filter, so feel free to offer your thoughts and comments, good or bad.

The equipment is a 6D with Sigma 35 f/1.4 Art and the Hoya R-72. The 6D is not IR converted.

I was researching this yesterday and wondering how one would create an RGB/IR composite. Did you layer mask the RGB into the image? or replace one of the color channels?

I just masked one onto the other. I don't remember the order. I changed the opacity on the grass.

Hi Ben
I like the idea of blending and RGB and IR shot together , gonna give that a try next year when we get some decent weather again. What was the exif for the IR shot in terms of aperture and time. When I tried something similar with my 1Ds I was looking at about 10s for the exposure time and I was getting some decent colours when it was processed, with no live view the focusing was all out of whack.

Wes, if you have a look at these two threads on the Flickr 'digital IR' group they might give you some more info.

I did it yesterday with some really boring shots of my kudzu laden backyard, just to learn the technique. I first tried it the astrophotography way, whihc involves converting to cmyk and back to rgb, adding IR as a lumiance layer. Ir also works really well for replacing the red channels according to some astrophotography stuff I have read. Im really fascinated by this sort of combination http://commons.wikimedia.org …thomosaic_(RGB%2BNIR).JPG (external link)
