5D (1, 2) - FF, poor AF
6D - FF, great AF

Can you please explain a little bit more? Is the 5D2 AF much more inferior to the 6D?

Not quite. I think the 6D is expected to more accurately focus (at least using it's center point) under low light conditions than the 5D2. The AF system itself, might be more robust... but I'm not certain. There are lots of discussion on this forum is you search around. I didn't even consider the 6D for several reasons: maximum shutterspeed, ergonomics, and memory card slot.

as far as I'm concerned, the 5Dc/5D2/6D have the same AF. The 6D has configuration options, but I cant say it matters much if I use the central point. The 5D's points were much easier/faster to navigate in a dynamic situation. The super center in conjunction with ISO 25600 is a nice combo if you shoot in really low light. The light gathering ability is ridiculously good. If I had a lot of time to do night street photography, the 6D would certainly kick ass and take names.

Here's my personal experience. After years using so-called crop cameras, I ended up with a full frame Canon 5D. Amazingly, the images from the 5D looked just like the crop camera images. In other words, don't expect miracles.

Wow, if your images from your 50D look the same as your images from the original 5D, both of which I have owned, then, well, yikes, that's a very talented 50D, a very bad 5D or....I'm not sure there's a third choice.

Night and day as far as I am concerned. Go 5Dc.

Depends on what he shoots and at what size he views his images.
